John Baker, and his dogteam, the leaders in the 38th running of the Iditarod Trail Sled Dog Race 2010 have left Ophir, Alaska heading northward through Cripple Creek to the Yukon River at Ruby, AK. Approximately 10 mushers&teams scratched traversing Rainy Pass. This, the most treacherous part of the race, was made worse this year by the exceptional amounts of snowfall. The temperatures remain low with Unalakleet (on the west coast) reporting -22*C. this morning. _________________
