This past weekend Classic Flyers hosted the 2010 airshow. Very Happy

I was in charge of the aircraft display flight line parking and marshalling. Cool

Starting Friday I was basically flat out organising parking for 70+ display aircraft, a mission in itself.

Saturday was a practice day and more arrivals.

Sunday the show started at 1000 throught to 1630 ... full on with stunning dislays in the air and on the ground.

No Exclamation I never had time to take pics Wink

Friday I was on the flightline from 1000-1930 ( very hot Wx .... bad sunburn Embarassed )
Saturday 0700 - 1930 ( wore hat and plenty of sunscreen Wink )
Sunday 0700 - 1900 ( totally stuffed but the beer tasted so good Razz Laughing Laughing )

But check these out .........

Sure sounds like we missed another good one...so who won the R8 or the airplane ???
My money has to be on the Audi in this case.....hometown pride Very Happy Very Happy

Funny thing is that we don't seem to be able to remember that little nugget of information about long exposure to bright sunlight = sunburn Very Happy Very Happy It's like driving on snow and ice which also must be learned anew every year it seams

Audi vs A-37 Cool

The debate still rages Laughing

On the Saturday ( or Friday ) they did a practice run with the Audi reaching about 270 kph and the A-37 keeping pace .... or winning.

The Audi driver was heard to say he can go faster ............ Laughing

On the Sunday the Audi was faster at 300+ kph and went waaaaaaaaaay past his mark to brake Shocked

Ya should of seen the tires smoke .... the crowd goes wild Laughing Laughing

He actually went off the end of the runway to turn around after the final run .... yahooooo Laughing Laughing

Still reckon the A-37 beat him but in good sportsmanship lets say it was a tie Wink

Anybody in the market for a cheap Audi ..... Razz Laughing

Low miles ,........

I only wish I could afford the R8 ..... I actually had signed for one back in August 2008, it was a build slot for Feb or March 2009. The idea then was that I would pick it up (it's built in my home town as I had mentioned) drive it for a little bit and then sell it with a small profit in the US to someone who did not want to wait.

When the economy started to tank more sharply I wisely as it turns out cancelled the option.
Turns out I would have lost my shirt on the deal.....but without a doubt and setting aside my personal affinity to Audi in general. This is the best car I have ever driven.
Since it doesn't look like I'll ever get a drive in a Veyron it's likely to stay that way for a long time Very Happy Very Happy

Speaking of the Bugatti Veyron...it lost in a similar race on "Top Gear" against the EF2000 or Taifun flown by the RAF's finest.

Congratulations, Pete . . . on another successful venture in your active life.
Looking at these photos links and videos it would appear NZ is years' ahead of Canada. Thanks for the Yoshi Muroya link; he's one cool dude!
P.S. He even cycles to stay in shape Laughing
